Frequently Asked Questions
1. Are all gun stocks finished?
No, all stocks are UNFINISHED unless otherwise noted. You may see a picture and think the stock has a finish on it, but that is not the case. We often times use mineral spirits so you can see what the color of the wood may look like when finished.
2. Will gun stocks have the channels and opening for barrel actions?
Yes, all gun stocks will have the channels and openings cut for the barreled action. Most stocks I machine are approximately 90% and may need a small amount of wood removed to fit your action and your barrel. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT MY STOCKS ARE NOT 100% drop-in stocks.
3. Will I have to fit my gun stock to my metal work?
YES, each gun stock will still require a minimal amount of final fitting for installation. Please do not send your metalworks to us as we are not set up to fit them to your stock. Small handtools are required to fit your stock such as a rasp, file, etc. If you feel that you are not qualified to fit your stock, then it is highly recommended that you contact a local gunsmith to help you with your installation.
4. Will I have to sand the gun stock?
Yes, sanding will be required. I recommend beginning with 100 grit sandpaper and ending up with 400 grit paper.
5. Can I have my own piece of wood duplicated?
NO, at the current time, I'm not accepting any hardwood from a customer for machine work.
6. Will you return my original gun stock?
Yes, if we use your stock for a pattern and you would like it returned, then there will be additional shipping charges to return it to you. I will try my best to not scar or make any marks on your pattern stock but there are times when that is not possible.
7. Shipping charges?
Shipping charges vary by location. Most of the time we can ship stocks for approximately $25. per stock if you live in the lower 48 states. There may be additonal charges for Alaska & Hawaii. We generally use USPS Priority Mail for our shipping carrier, but we have other options if you prefer a different carrier, prices may vary. If you need expedited delivery, prices will be adjusted.
8. What is the time frame for receiving my duplicated gun stock?
We will make every effort to complete your order as quickly as possible. Most of our orders are in and out of the shop within a couple weeks of receiving them. Occasionally, there may be additional time involved but you'll be notified of that. You will also be notified when your gun stock is ready to be shipped including a tracking number.
9. Gun stocks with thumbholes:
Any pattern with a thumbhole may cost an extra $50.00 for the machine work depending on the model.
10. Payment Accepted:
We accept Pay Pal, Visa, Mastercard, Check or Money Order. We are more than happy to invoice you via PayPal. Once your payment is received, we will begin machining your gunstock.
11. Return Policy
Returns are accepted as long as the gunstock has not been altered. Please return it within 7 days for a refund. We want you to be satisfied with our work but keep in mind that anytime we do any type of custom work, there are no refunds on those.
